I heard so much talk about Chef Hiro on Facebook, so I just had to try it. I'm glad I did. I thought I would have a hard time finding it, but the line was so long I couldn't miss it. Today was taco Tuesday, so tacos were the only thing on my mind. I decided to try the shrimp taco, steak taco and the chicken taco. I also tried the lamb chops. The tacos come already with a number of toppings such as Hiro cranberry red beans & rice, roma tomatoes, cheese, cilantro and Hiro sauce. Some people don't like rice on their tacos, let them know you if you choose not to. He also had his special homemade sauce. I noticed a lot of people buying extra sauce, but I didn't, because it came with it. It was sweet and tangy. It was hard to pick a favorite because they all were delicious. The chicken had a great charcoal and smokey flavor to it. It wasn't overcooked or chewy. It had the right amount of seasoning that melted in your mouth. The steak was also cooked well. It wasn't chewy or fatty and had great flavor. You could tell it was marinated over a period of time because of its tenderness and grilled flavor. The shrimp was my favorite. It had the perfect flavor. due to the seasoning that was used. Sometimes, you can get shrimp overcooked and the texture could taste rubbery, but this was grilled to perfection. The lamb chops were good, but could have used a little bit more seasoning. They were juicy and tender.
They had cinnamon grilled pineapple that came with every meal and it will not disappoint you. That's probably the best pineapple I have ever tasted. The menu also offered a vegan sausage along with rice bowls and a pineapple bowl. Quesadillas are available with different types of protein.
I really enjoyed my meal and they lived up to the hype. The hostess all wore masks and gloves. The one thing that impressed me was despite the long lines, they were patient and passed out free cold water to everyone in line. Social distancing and wearing mask was not consistent with waiting customers. The two things I recommend is to wear a mask and stand 6 feet apart. GET THERE EARLY. I arrived at 5:30 pm and the line was very long. However, it moved fast and there was shade from the sun.
My final review: My rating is between 1-5. One meaning needs improvement and five being the best.
