JD'S Kitchen

JD'S Kitchen is located on 3728 Agler Rd, Columbus, OH 43219. It is one of the soul food restaurants that are located throughout Columbus. It has the same menu as most soul food restaurants but this one didn't have mac & cheese.

I visited this restaurant after someone recommend it to me. I'm glad I did. The food was very tasty and fulfilling. Normally places that serve soul food have people who grew up in the kitchen or was taught how to cook from someone like their mother or grandmother. This reminded me of those times. The chicken and fish were cooked to perfection. The fish had a light corn meal breading with a little seasoning. It was tender, not overcooked but just right. They gave you 3 pieces and that was enough. The chicken had a hint of sweetness, but it was not breaded which made it even better. It tasted like it had been seasoned and sat for awhile to make sure all the seasoning marinated together. I decided to try the green beans instead of the greens this time. I'm glad I did. They were very good. I couldn't tell if they were fresh or not, but they were prepared with love. I could taste the smoked meat. The coleslaw and French fries were just basic dishes. I could tell the Cole slaw was store bought but it was still good. The fries were also good. I have always loved my fries a little soft and they were. The one thing some people don't understand about soul food restaurants are sometimes you have to buy store bought sides because of time and waste. The cornbread was soft and sweet.

The service was great and the place was clean. The young lady that helped me was pleasant. She helped me pick the combo I wanted and offered me samples before I purchased it. They don't serve mac & cheese and yams, which I'm glad they don't. Every soul food restaurant doesn't have to have mac & cheese. They serve four different types of fish, pork chops, beef Coney's and a host of sides and sweets. You wont be disappointed. They did have on a mask.

My final review: My rating is between 1-5. One meaning needs improvement and five being the best.
