Madison Kitchen is located on 1731 Greenway Ave, Columbus, Ohio. The kitchen is located within a church. It has your typical soul food, but certain foods are served on different days. I remember living in Springfield, Ohio and attending church, during the service they would be preparing dinner for the incoming pastor. During repast, the church supplied food for the family.

There are a number of soul food restaurants I have reviewed over the last month. JD'S kitchen, The Good kitchen, and La' Glory's. They all basically had the same thing, but each one had a certain item the other didn't. Madison Kitchen has a number of things on their menu, like mixed vegetables, mash potatoes, corn, green beans and greens. Let's start off with the chicken. It was good, but not great. The pieces were small, but they gave you four pieces which was sufficient. It had a good flavor, but I added a little bit of salt with mine. It was crunchy and flavorful. The mac & cheese was also good. You could definitely tell it was homemade. It had the right amount of cheese and it was seasoned perfectly. The greens were the best. Not only did they taste great, but the seasoning and the meat they cooked it in was obviously gave it a good taste. The yams were also good. I couldn't taste the cinnamon that I normally do, but they were satisfactory. They were soft and very sweet. The cornbread was just your typical sweet cornbread. They did not have cabbage on the menu.
The workers did wear masks, gloves and had protective shields around the serving station. The servers were very nice and helpful. They did have slices of cakes in a vending machine that were homemade.
They only take cash. I think they should probably invest in a credit card swipe or cash app. There were some people that had to leave to search for an ATM to get cash. A huge inconvenience for some. They have a warming station so if you order a meal and something is not ready yet, they will keep it warm.
Overall I liked Madison kitchen and what they have done throughout the years serving the community. They have good food and a nice staff. PS you can eat inside if you choose to.
My final review: My rating is between 1-5. One meaning needs improvement and five being the best.
