The Good Kitchen Review

The Good Kitchen is a soul food restaurant. It is black owned located at 1485 Sunbury Rd Ave Columbus, Oh. This is as down home cooking as you will find. It has a very wide range of soul food that's made daily. It has a variety of soul food such as chicken, fish, sweet potato soufflé and broccoli casserole. Along with your typical regular soul food menu items such mac and cheese, greens, cabbage and green beans.

Everyone kept telling me to try The Good Kitchen restaurant and finally I did. Let me tell you it was worth the visit. First, lets talk about the service. It was great. They were practicing social distancing and everyone was wearing mask. The young lady that was assisting was very pleasant and professional. There was a plastic shield that separated us but I still can hear her clearly. The servers and cooks all had masks. I decided to try the special of the day, which was meatloaf with two sides. My sides were mash potatoes and cabbage. I also purchased a side order of broccoli casserole. That was one of the best meatloaf I have ever had and my mother could cook some serious meatloaf. It was flavorful with little touches of spices. It was very juicy and not dried out. The mash potatoes were good. Good flavor, not to much salt but just right. I don't know if they were fresh potatoes but it tasted like it. They were fluffy with a little bit of gravy to set it off. If you choose not to have gravy, just let them know. The cabbage was good and had good flavor. I prefer mine a little softer but what they served was fine. Once I arrived home, I just added a little bit of pepper. I was beginning to check out when I noticed they served sweet potato soufflé and broccoli casserole. I remembered my wife wanted a side so I purchased the broccoli casserole. It was cheesy and the broccoli was good. I like my broccoli a little softer, but we both enjoyed it.

Overall, the food was great. The only thing missing was cornbread. They may serve it but that day they didn't have any available.

My final review: My rating is between 1-5. One meaning needs improvement and five being the best.
